General Information
Bensedin (also known as Diazepam) is a medicine from the group of benzodiazepines. It acts primarly to releive anxiety and fears. It also relax muscles and acts as anticonvulsant (prevents seizures). Because of these effects, it is used to treat anxiety (fear, anxiety), muscle cramps (spasms) as well as for epileptic seizures treatment especially to treat condition know as "status epileptucus". It can also be used for delirium tremens treatment and for preparing for surgery. This medicine is also used to treat insomnia.
Use and Dose
The recommended dose of diazepam for adults varies from 2 mg to 10 mg, taken 2 to 4 times a day. For children over 6 months, the initial dose usually ranges from 1 mg to 2.5 mg taken 3 to 4 times a day.
It is important that the dose be tailored to your personal needs to avoid excessive sedation or motor impairment.
Diazepam 10mg Bensedine tablets is normally used for a short period of time or as needed. It can cause a state of dependence if it is taken for long periods. If you are taking this medication regularly for some time (eg more than a month), do not stop taking it without first talking to your doctor. To avoid weaning effects, a gradual reduction in dose is recommended before stopping.

Side Effects
Bensedin can cause the following side effects:
- anterograde amnesia (loss of memory while you were under the influence of Diazepam),
- headache,
- insomnia,
- agitation,
- anger,
- aggression,
- impotence,
- gynecomastia (breast enlargement),
- blurred vision,
- drowsiness,
- fatigue,
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- constipation,
- ataxia (presence of abnormal movements),
- diplopia (double vision),
- speech disorder,
- nightmares,
- low blood pressure,
- allergy and others.

Storage
Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children.
Do not dispose of medicines into the waste water (eg not in the sink or in the toilet bowl) or in household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to get rid of unused or outdated medications.
